C25K - W4D2; 100PUW2D2

1.53 Miles
21:31 = 14:03 / M

Amazing the role humidity plays. I went 1/10 of a mile further in the exact same time today. I attribute that to a few things (both of which may be psychological, what do I know...?):
a) Humidity today 30%. Temp was 80, but it felt fine.
b) I ate dinner and THEN ran. Not a huge dinner, nor a great one either(fish filets & instant mashed potatoes made w/skim milk with the kiddos), but I had a little fuel in me, felt actually ok.

Pushup Update (PU, ha!), W2D2:
  • Today: 11, 9, 7, 7, 15(!) = 49 (girl pushups, but I did most of them on my knuckles to salvage my dignity)
  • (W2 Subtotal: 86)
  • (W1 Subtotal: 110)
Total PU's To-Date = 196

Midweek 3 miler #2

YES! Got the second midweek run in, YES! How is it that with 93% humidity, this run felt great???

Here is my theory. I think I hydrated well today. I have given up my mid-day diet soda and replaced with a bottle of water. I drank water in my grad class tonight before my run. Even heard a swish or two in my belly as I ran. But I really wonder if the pre-run, all-day hydration helped...

3 miles
35:07 (11:42/mile)
Temp: 61 Humidity: 93%

Oh, yeah, fast and negative splits. Not a pretty ending, got a side stitch with about .75 to go, but my 1 min walk break came up and that seemed to reset my stitch (can you tell I'm a product of the computer age??).

Mile 1 - 12:07
Mile 2 - 11:40
Mile 3 - 11:19 (tough last mile, didn't think it'd be negative, yes!)

YES! Next up, a 10 miler this weekend, woo hoo.

Midweek 3 miler

I am struggling with getting my midweek runs in...so I'm glad I snuck this in today in the mist/drizzle and daylight.

3 miles
34:44 (11:34/mile)
Temp: 62 Humidity: 80%

I pushed the pace a bit this run, was *just* slightly uncomfortable for the last 1.5 miles, probably due to the humidity (surprise, surprise). Bummer that Garmin lost the satellite connection when I was at mile 2.8 of my 3 miler, so I am guestimating the distance, but I think I am darn close:-) Ha, Garmin said my avg. speed for the last mile was 66.7 mph, lol, woo hoo, go me.

Mile 1 - 11:40
Mile 2 - 11:33
Mile 3 - 11:30

BTW, my last post, just wanted to clarify that I didn't get sick or anything from running on a belly full of Chile's Margarita Chicken (mercifully); just that I was impressed with my belly for hanging in there while I completed the run. I sure won't make running on such a full belly a habit, that is for sure! :-)

I stink at humidity

My "long run" this evening, ha. :-(

4.96 miles
1:08:02 (13:42/mile)
Temp:71 Humidity: 90-93%

Just too humid. I had to stop. And Garmin robbed me of a half mile. Grrr. I needed this run to be around 8 or 9 miles. Hmmmm....

I am so done with humidity (NOT that I want freezing cold, or anything).

Long run

Just posting this today, but I ran yesterday morning (woo hoo early on a Saturday).

7 miles
1:36:23 (13:46/mile)
Temp: 62 Humidity: 90% (UGH)

The humidity was again a factor for me. On this run, I focused on keeping my HR in Zone 3 (60-79% of max) for the first few miles, to be sure I would have enough in the tank for a decent LR. Was hoping to do 8 or 9, but due to time crunch, "settled" for 7 (I still can't believe I can write that I "settled" for running 7 miles, incredible:-)).

Mile 1 - 14:26
Mile 2 - 15:06 (the longest mile. Took a BR & H2O break and felt better)
Mile 3 - 14:38 (negative! )
Mile 4 - 14:04 (negative! finally started feeling decent on this mile)
Mile 5 - 13:14 (negative! was at the HS track, nice & cushy)
Mile 6 - 12:52 (negative! )
Mile 7 - 12:00 (negative! )

Yay. Philly HM is 9 weeks from today.

When Flat Seems Uphill

First run in nearly a week. Wasn't pretty.

2.50 miles
33:46 (13:30/mile)
Temp: 70 Humidity: 90% at 5:30 am

The humidity was a bear. Heading out to school in a few (not used to saying that yet...).

HH Intermdiate 5K - Week 8, Day 1 - First day of school

Murphy's Law rant: School starts today and my beloved coffee maker seems to have broken. So I put it out to pasture and bought a shiny new one last night. As I unpacked the shiny new one, the caraffe slipped and BROKE. AAAAHHHH. Brand new! How can I have no coffee the first day of school, hard enough to go back after two months off, but sans coffee?? That is double torture!

Ok, my short run at 6am this morning, not easy, prob due to the humidity, I'll chalk it up to that.
2. miles
25:14 (12:37/mile)
Temp: 64 Humidity: 87%

Off to teacher meetings and to make a zillion copies for the kiddo's first day tomorrow. Good thing is, this is my first day of my fourth year at this school, so at the end of the day, I will officially be a tenured teacher:-)

HH Intermdiate 5K - Week 2, Day 2

Was on the road by 6:05 today. Walked out our door and was hit with the wall--you know that wall? That wall of humidity. At 6 am! Yikes.

Mr. Higdon wanted me to try my very first tempo run today. I ran slowly for 10 minutes, then sped up a little (to, oh, 12 minute miles) for 10 min, walked 1.5 minutes, then finished with 10 minutes of slow jogging. It was kind of cool to see that I was working hard in the faster part of the run, but that I was surviving, too. I may not be "faster" yet, but things are getting a little easier (despite the heat & humidity, that is).

So here are the stats:
2.31 miles
30:34 (13:13/mile)
Temp 75, Humidity 85% @ 6 am

HH Intermdiate 5K - Week 1, Day 3

Ah, the Jersey humidity is back. Tough run this morning, but I'm patting myself on the back for getting up and getting it done before my husband had to leave. I figured I had last night off of rehearsal for July 4th, so if I couldn't get up today, I couldn't ever do it--so I'm glad it happened today. Now begins a stretch where I have only one day off of rehearsal for the next week and a half, so should be interesting how these runs get fit in...one day at a time, baby steps.

Here are today's numbers:
3 miles
40:33 (13:31/mile)
68 degrees, 93% humidity

Monumental day for a few reasons: 1) Like I said, I got up to do this; 2) I've never run 3 days in a row before, HH is ambitious, ha!; and 3) Today I hit 200 miles for the year! This was a goal I was hoping to hit before July 1, but that fell in my running slump. I am still hoping for 400 miles for the year, we'll see!
