Freezing, schmeezing...

Could not face the treadmill in today's 30 degree weather...had some birthday money burning a hole in my pocket (I turn 25 this week--again!)...so today I bought...

UNDERARMOR! A shirt & a pair o'tights!

And here's what I did, in the dark, 30 degrees.
4.00 Miles
53:42
13:25 / M

Was only going to do 2 miles, but just sort of kept going. Needed to post some points for my VRAA team, since I'm the lowest point-getter on my team (when it takes nearly an hour to run 4 miles, well, let's just say the points don't rack up that quickly).

Love the UA running clothes. Watch out, cold!

Run Before the Storm

In honor of today's Walt Disney World Marathon (Wes is running there this weekend), went out for a beautiful sunny Sunday run.

Well, also because I owe my VRAA team whatever paultry milage I can muster...

But really because it's going to snow for about 24 hrs starting tonight here in Joisey and I wanted to get some milage in.

My shiny new iPod has helped me discover podcasts (the aforementioned DisUnplugged is my favorite right now) but I am also rediscovering music--what a concept. I feel like I've been in a time warp for the last 6 years, not really listening to music. I've missed it. It made me bop a little while running (Gwen Stefani, "Sweet Escape," just fun), and it actually made me run a little faster at the end ("Whine it up"! Kat DeLuna). Loved getting in some miles with some podcasts & tunes before the snow hits.

Quick twilight run

Got two miles in on a crazy day. If it weren't for Virtual Race Across America, I would not have fit this run in, so woo hoo, VRAA!

Temp: 61, Humidity 64%

Go, RUTGERS!

Went away to Toronto this weekend with the husband and kids to cheer on RUTGERS in their win in the International Bowl against Ball State--and for dh's birthday! It was an 8 hour drive each way from Jersey. Yes, we did this with the 2 year old and the 6 year old, and they did...GREAT! We survived and actually enjoyed it! Got some walking in the frigid cold in (we're too cheap to taxi) and walked about two miles round trip every time we wanted to eat or go see the game. Met up with old Rutgers friends from home and was just a great, whirlwind weekend.

What did my kids get out of it? They now chant "One More Year" since they heard the crowd chanting it at Ray Rice (#27) begging him not to go forego his Sr. year and go pro, which he probably will.

Ran today when I got back, slowly (surprise, surprise), 3 miles, 42 min, felt ok:-)

Am trying to regain my motivation and I joined KickRunner's Virtual Race Across America (VRAA). My team is counting on my measly <15 miles per week. I had to get out there today so as not to disappoint. Looking forward to a competitive angle added to regular runs.
