Ran with my kid:-)

Getting back into it, this time I had a 6 year old running partner! Both clad in our Rutgers hats, we took to the streets. R60 seconds, Walk 30 seconds, yeah, lame, but it is all I can muster right now. Man, a month of no running really takes a toll on the old endurance. But I loved running with my son:-) On one of our walk breaks, he even said, "Hey Mom, we're pals." I told him yep, ok, but I'm also the Mommy, too. And he said, "Yeah, like when I talk back, THEN you're the Mommy!" I don't like sass from my kids, lol.

Some updates:
1. DH & I raised over $600 in our overnight Relay for Life walk this past weekend. And the kicker is our partner, teammate and youth group co-leader--who raised the most money again this year in our town for RFL and whose mom also died of breast cancer--she's age 36 and was just diagnosed with breast cancer. Age 36. What is going on, ugh. Your prayers/positive thoughts for Amy would be appreciated if you are the praying or positive energy type.

2. I passed my crazy test and will soon be awarded a MA in French Literature. Only took seven years....

3. I am now rehearsing (acting, singing, dancing) a community theater musical, because I wasn't doing enough, ha.

4. My boy & I are going to do a local 5K next month.

I am working on new running goals. Most immediate goal is to get back up to 3 miles, R10/W1, that will take some doing.

Peace to you all.

Recovery Run & Tough News

2.65 miles
31:07 (11:44/mile)

I did R10/W1.5 and variations on that theme in this slow run.

Now the tough part. My mom, just found out Friday that she has breast cancer. She was vigilant and found the lump herself (she had been for a routine checkup the month before and nothing was found!). We're optimistic that she will beat it, since it appears she caught it early. But the family is in a little shock. Her surgery is a week from next Monday, the doc will prescribe radiation or chemo after, depending on what she finds. So, please, some blogoshpere prayers for my Mom would be much appreciated, if you are the praying type. I'll be doing Relay for Life for the second year in our town with our school & church, has a whole "close to home" feeling this time around.

Peace.
