Got out @ 7 am again to face the humidity and did this:
6 miles
1:18:17 (13:02/mile)
Temp: 74 Humid.: 76%
Mile 1 - 13:33
Mile 2 - 13:26
Mile 3 - 13:23
Mile 4 - 13:26 (darn, messed up the negative splits by 4 crummy seconds)
Mile 5 - 13:01
Mile 6 - 11:26
Paid attention to the HR monitor and kept it Zone 3 for the first 2.5 miles then took a BR & GU break. I didn't think I'd get to 5 miles, but right when I hit 5, I ran through some sprinklers and found a burst of energy (could the GU have kicked in??) and I pushed my last mile to be the fastest:-) I usually don't use GU on a run less than 8 or 10 miles, but did for 3 reasons: 1) I was actually hoping to 7 miles; 2) I was afraid of the humidity and that H20 alone would not cut it; and 3) It was going to expire, ha!
HH wanted me to do 4 yesterday and 6 today, but since I'm jumping the schedule a week, I tweaked it to 6 and 6 and achieved my first 20+ mile week! Ok, my total this week was actually 21:-)
PS-Stop by Wes's blog and wish him well as he completes his first Olympic Tri!
