Short, not sweet

Getting slowly back into the swing of things. My jeans are getting tight and with DST it was still nice & light after school, so out I went.

2.12 Miles
28:41
13:31 / M
Temp: 44

R5/W1. Not too easy, but it got done, yay.

My dad is doing well. We're ok here. Hanging in.

2007/11/01

Just do it.

76% humidity. R5/W30 sec., R 5. Been sick for 3 weeks, now it's a sinus thing. I had to just get some kind of run in after my less-than-stellar 9miler last Sun.

Had Garmin made contact with a satellite, I'd have done a mile, I guestimated:
0.97 miles
10:45 (11:04/mile)

So excited to watch the NYC Marathon this weekend. Hope to glean some inspiration from it. BEST of luck to any/everyone running it.

HH Intermdiate 5K - Week 8, Day 1 - First day of school

Murphy's Law rant: School starts today and my beloved coffee maker seems to have broken. So I put it out to pasture and bought a shiny new one last night. As I unpacked the shiny new one, the caraffe slipped and BROKE. AAAAHHHH. Brand new! How can I have no coffee the first day of school, hard enough to go back after two months off, but sans coffee?? That is double torture!

Ok, my short run at 6am this morning, not easy, prob due to the humidity, I'll chalk it up to that.
2. miles
25:14 (12:37/mile)
Temp: 64 Humidity: 87%

Off to teacher meetings and to make a zillion copies for the kiddo's first day tomorrow. Good thing is, this is my first day of my fourth year at this school, so at the end of the day, I will officially be a tenured teacher:-)

Penultimate Training Run

was cut short today by time constraints. Here's what I did in the beautiful, breezy 73 degree sun:

1.23 miles
14:01 (11:23/mile)

I was pushing the pace this run since I knew I'd only get a very short run in--yes, that is pushing the pace for me:-( I ran right to my 2 yr old's daycare, picked him up, and we walked home:-)

I am happy to say I didn't catch my 2 yr old's stomach virus (knock on wood), but I did catch a nasty head cold. Am hoping it stays in my head (and not down to chest) for just a few more days. Also tomorrow am giving a presentation for a paper I am *just* about to start writing now (big time procrastination on this one), after my presentation, I have a callback an hour away for a musical (yes, I have to SING!). Will be a late night tonight, busy day tomorrow with a lot of caffeine in between. I will drink water, too, though and try to get some rest on Thurs & Fri.

One more little run then HM!

T Minus 8 Days

Beautiful 40-degree weather this morning, got up and got a 3 miler in.

8 days to go till my HM. I am still trying to find a hotel room in the vicinity of the HM. It's over an hour away from my house and starts @ 7:30, so I was hoping to stay close to the race--but of course, everything was booked up months ago. Why didn't I plan ahead, you ask? Well, I wanted to be sure I could do this crazy HM. SO if I find a hotel room, great. If not, well, I will just get up at 2:45 to eat & drink my coffee, putz around a bit, and get to the race area by 6 (they start closing the roads then and I have no idea how I'll park). That is ok. I am excited!

Oh, and neese, this one's for you--I'm auditioning for a summer musical this week, ha! :-)

One more little training run to go!

SUNDAY ETA: My nearly-two-year-old woke up middle of night with stomach virus. Up all night with him, poor thing. Am spraying Lysol everywhere, washing hands, and PRAYING he is the only one here that gets it ((((crossing freshly-washed fingers))))

Quick One

Had to work late to prepare for sub Monday (I'll be @ my mom's operation) and to recover from leaving early last two days to tend sick younguns. Couldn't work too late because dh is leaving for our church youth retreat (that I am supposed to go on, too, since I'm a fellow youth leader, but, alas, we don't want anyone to have to take care of BOTH our kids in our absence--one, maybe, but both of 'em? Yowzers!).

So I snuck in this little gem, better than nothing, but as Wes said, when there's a will there's a way:-)
1.59 miles
17:45 (11:09/mile)

LOL to Javamom, I do the same thing when I keep people from cyberspace in my prayers ("God, please watch over Supermum...well, YOU know who I mean, God!")

So thanks for the prayers & good vibes for my mom. I'll try to get in a 10 miler somehow while dh is gone, if not, I'll report back next week to let you know how she did:-)

Peace out.

Short & A Little Sweet

Really the only sweet thing about tonight's run is the pace, still in the 10's.

1.79 miles
18:40 (10:25/mile)

Was planning on doing 3 miles, but a tummyache I've had since lunch today made me want to quit. I didn't really have to quit, I wanted to. It was mind over matter. And the mind beat the matter today. But I'm not 100%, the stomach virus has been making the rounds so I fear I'm getting it. Hope not. But YAY, keeping the run in the 10's despite the brevity of it tonight.
