Joggiversary!!!!

No run today, but 12 June marked a YEAR since my midlife crisis set in and I started some form of jogging. Thought I would post my original post here. In reading it, I am floored by how far I've come! I should go back to it more often when I get down about not getting a run in, or not having a good run...

So Happy Joggiversary to me:-) Hope I'm in this for years to come!

Couch to 5 k: Week 1 Recap

I only started this chronicle of my C25K journey today (which is early in Week Two) so here is a recap of Week One.

WEEK ONE
The C25K says to do the following 3x this week: "Brisk five-minute warmup walk. Then alternate 60 seconds of jogging and 90 seconds of walking for a total of 20 minutes."

Monday, 12 June, 2006 - I told P to watch the kids, I am heading out for about 25 min. I walked briskly for 5 min and then, as instructed, alternated 60 seconds of jogging with 90 seconds of
walking. This was HARD for me. I had to bail out on the last set of jogging and just walked briskly to the end. Will be a long road.

Thursday, 15 June - Last day of school. Still slightly sore from Monday's first workout! After a short time @ the local HS graduation, did my Week One workout. I did everything!!! Woo hoo. Not easy, but I ran as long as I had to.

Saturday,17 June - Decked out in my MP3 player, new sneaks
and sleeveless shirt (I HATE even short sleeves by my armpits, I always roll up my sleeves and look like a stupid Bowzer wannabe). Did the workout, it was hotter and a little harder to get done, but again, got through it without bailing on the running.

Week One Thoughts: Running for even only 60 seconds is not easy for me. I find myself looking at my watch about 40 seconds into each set of running hoping that the time to walk is near. Can't decide if I will repeat Week One again next week or attempt Week Two. Will see how I feel at tonight's workout.

Gotta start somewhere...

I am not getting any younger. There, I said it.
I want to run a 5k. There, I said that, too.

It has been 20 years since I participated in any significant organized sport or exercise, and I can't run my way out of a paper bag. If my kids needed help, say, 1/4 mile away, I would not get there very fast. If a bad guy were chasing me, I could not outrun him. These facts bug me!

So I recently happened upon the Couch to 5k plan (C25K) at www.coolrunning.com, and something came over me! I got it in my head to aim to run a 5k in a few months.

Whaaa????? Must be a mid-life crisis.

Here I will chronicle the trials and triumphs of my attempt to go from the "couch to a 5k" in a few months.

Wow! That's awesome! I'm curious, how did your Couch to 5K program work for u? I'm doing it now, but I had to slow down at Week 3 (I had some pain in my leg).

Hey lady. Thought I'd drop in. I'm in slack mode and I'm not going to even say when I'm going to get back out there. Just know that one day I'll surprise everyone. Hope all is well and Happy Joggiversary!
